The Chairwoman of the Civic Platform „Stand Up.BG“ Maya Manolova called for free PCR tests for everyone and for an increase in the income of Bulgarian citizens to at least BGN 1,000 per month per working person. In front of journalists in Vidin, where the organization’s office was opened today, she commented that a lot is spent on companies close to the government, and nothing reaches ordinary people.

„Instead of the main goal being to support small and medium-sized businesses and ordinary people, an update of the budget for roads and highways is being prepared, incl. and those to be built by subsequent governments.“

The government is causing panic and horror due to the inadequate organization of the health system, Manolova added. She claims that GPs do not have PCR tests, and they have been waiting for them for the second month.

„People cannot afford a cost of nearly BGN 500 per household, which is why they are not tested, and so the infection is spreading. Vidin does not have a laboratory for PCR tests, and people all over the country report that there is no flu vaccine.“

Manolova called for the immediate organization of providing free PCR tests for all Bulgarian citizens in need and said the lack of specialists, including doctors and nurses, was a personal failure after 11 years of rule by Boyko Borissov and GERB.

Manolova pointed out that the orders of the Ministry of Health are illegal from the point of view of the Health Insurance Act and the Medical Establishments Act, where formulations such as „new COVID zones“ do not exist at all. She added that even with regard to the legislation, GERB has not done its job since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Chairwoman of „Stand Up.BG“ stressed that the main problem of people is low income, and in the Northwest this is most evident. She shared that their priority is BGN 1,000 minimum monthly income for a working person through flexible working hours and a fair minimum hourly rate and recalculation of all pensions based on insurance income from 2017-2018. Manolova gave the example of Romania, which had equal indicators in 2007 as Bulgaria, drastically increased pensions and the minimum wage several times, but this did not „break“ the state.

Regarding the unpaid salaries of the workers from the company „Titan Vidin“, Manolova said that several properties and one plane of the company were seized.

„If the debts of the people are not paid, we will again move to bankruptcy proceedings of the company „Titan-Vidin“. Either pay, or let their property be sold, or go bankrupt.”
