There are 13 new COVID-19 cases and 5 coronavirus patients have been hospitalized over the past 24 hours in Bulgaria. A total of 494 people were tested for the respiratory disease with the total number of tested people in Bulgaria reaching 18 502. The information was provided by the head of the Bulgarian National Operations Headquarters, Major General Ventsislav Mutafchiyski, during the regular briefing from this morning. Accounting for the latest confirmed cases, the total number of COVID-19 patients in the country increases to 624.
8 of the new cases are in Sofia, two cases are confirmed in Ruse and one case is confirmed in Kyustendil, Pazardzhik and Veliko Turnovo respectively.
The number of recovered patients is 54 with the latest 6 dismissed patients being from the Military Medical Academy in Sofia, the hospital of „Pirogov“. The rest of the recovered patients are from Varna, Shumen, Dobrich, and Kurdzhali. The average age of patients recovered is 47. 35 of them are men and 19 women.
230 of all patients diagnosed with COVID-19 remain under medical supervision in hospital facilities. 33 of them are admitted to intensive wards. There is one patient from Military Medical Academy who had to be intubated. He got infected with the virus during chemotherapy shortly after being operated for colon cancer. This is one of the highest risk groups.
The total number of medical workers who gave positive tests for coronavirus is 33. 13 of them are men and 20 women.
The number of people deceased from COVID-19 in the country is 24. There are no death cases from the past 24 hours. There is one case of a deceased patient in “Alexandrovska” hospital who had to be intubated but the cause of the death is yet to be confirmed. According to the treating doctors, he was experiencing the symptoms of the disease.
