About 380,000 are the new unemployed for the period February-December in the past 2020, according to data from the National Statistical Institute for the weekly specialized monitoring of the labor market due to the coronavirus. Despite the difficulties over that period, 235,000 people were able to find work through employment offices.
In the past week from 21 to 27 December, the new data on people without livelihoods is twice as much, as 3400, compared to those who started working. The latter number is a little over 1700.
The regions with the highest number of registered unemployed are the districts of Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas and Pleven. There are fewer cases in Smolyan, Gabrovo and Silistra.
