The meetings of the Burgas Municipal Council continue to be online, not in person. This raises doubts that in this way the awkward questions to the municipal councilors from the majority of GERB and the administration in the person of both the mayor Dimitar Nikolov and his deputies are omitted. The problem comes from the fact that in the online sessions on the most important topics the connection is interrupted, so the members of the local parliament cannot express their positions, fail to vote or their vote is not counted. This happened at yesterday’s meeting in one of the main reports – on measures to support business.

Experts comment that what is happening is more profitable for GERB. Thus, they pass various reports that are controversial or have a „hidden“ meaning. Interested citizens ask how long the Municipal Council will hide from them and meet online? According to the people, the answer here is clear – GERB does not want publicity for its manipulative actions.

We remind you that even the most important note for the year – the budget was reviewed online. Although before that it was voted to hold the meeting in person in the hall „Boycho Branzov“ and to allow media representatives. Subsequently, the majority of GERB members changed their minds and 51 members of the local parliament had to debate and vote online. The session was held with many problems with the electronic connection.

Over the past year, the majority of municipal councilors have made many shameful decisions, one of which is that of Rosenets on April 28, 2020. The councilors were then in Boycho Branzov Hall, but journalists were not allowed to attend the meeting. The proposal was submitted by the mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov, which was to change the Detailed Development Plan of “Rosenets” Park. During the meeting, Vladimir Pavlov from Vazrazhdane asked for the report to be withdrawn and considered by all commissions due to the high public interest. Mayor Dimitar Nikolov also intervened in the dispute:

The last urbanized territory of the municipality of Burgas, where people live, is Tschengene Skele. There is no organized wastewater disposal. We found a program and a last-minute chance to apply for guaranteed funding. That is, all other political phantasmagorias, I am not interested at all. As mayor, I have a duty and the people who live in Tschengene Skele have long wanted me and you to provide them with the necessary conditions.“

Vladimir Pavlov then clarified that it is not about Tschengene Skele, but about „Rosenets“ Park, and he added:

„It’s not about the Tschengene Skele, it’s about Ahmed Dogan’s face. We will make a decision in the dark at the last minute. I don’t know if you went there to see what kind of security it was.“

After the adoption of the scandalous point 3 of the decision for “Rosenets” Park, the representatives of  “Middle European Class” political party Konstantin Bachiiski and the councilor from “Democratic Bulgaria – Unification” Dimitar Naidenov registered a report in the office of the municipal council with a proposal to cancel this point. Practically, the municipal councilors from the majority of GERB with this decision have taken away the access of the Bulgarian citizens to this part of the coast. After repeated protests that turned into anti-government protests, GERB had to revoke its decision.

That is why the GERB party has not enjoyed a good name over the years and is associated with a series of scandals. They have regularly used legal methods to cover up one or another abuse or to avoid completely reasonable criticism. All this is happening in Burgas, where the mayor is the deputy chairman of the political force. Hence the questions appear – are they afraid of the party to make their actions public and are they for the benefit of society?
