„Bulgarian Patriots – the IMRO, “Volya” politcal party, and the NFSB“ submitted a signal to Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev after the protest in front of the MRF headquarters yesterday. The reason is the scandalous visit and the speech of the MRF leader Mustafa Karadaya in Ankara to a senior representative of the Turkish state, namely:
„Turkey is our homeland. We stayed in Bulgaria after the Ottoman Empire. This land / Bulgaria / is our land. We are not immigrants there. Our struggle is to protect our Turkish identity. To protect our language, religion and customs. Really.“
This statement, backed by promises to double Turkey’s votes in the upcoming elections, provoked a reaction and protest from patriots in front of the ethnic party’s headquarters. They remind that according to the Constitution, Bulgaria is a single-nation state with an official language – Bulgarian. According to the provisions of the Constitution, parties on ethnic or religious grounds are not allowed in the political life of the country. For us, the question remains open as to why an openly anti-Bulgarian, pro-Turkish party, as its chairman himself testified in his speeches, continues to be legitimate, according to the Bulgarian court.
Here are some of the reasons for the signal:
„We claim that the “Movement for Rights and Freedoms”, registered as a Bulgarian political party, is carrying out activities that are inherently unconstitutional and grossly violate the ban on the establishment and functioning of political entities based on racial and ethnic ideology.
The statement of Mustafa Karadaya from June 4th, 2021, Chairman of one of the leading political parties in the Republic of Bulgaria, is very disturbing. It raises doubts about the activity and the purpose for which it was registered. Apart from the content of the above-mentioned statement of the party leader, another fact is extremely worrying. The discussion of a domestic political issue, such as the forthcoming parliamentary elections in the country, with a person performing a function in a state body of another state, should be considered as interference in the sovereignty of the Republic of Bulgaria. Moreover, such an issue is commented not only by the Chairman of the legislative body of the Republic of Turkey, but also by that of one of the political entities registered to participate in the elections to the National Assembly. „
