„I will not be destroyed!„
This was stated by the nominee for Minister of Interior Petar Iliev. He pointed out that the whole media attack makes him even more decisive and purposeful in what needs to be done for the state. The nominated interior minister commented to „NOVA“:
„I know my way and I’m moving on. I am not a member of „There is such a people“, but I am with Slavi Trifonov and the team from the time when we organized the referendum. Then I organized his legal side. I have not only the support of Trifonov, but I have his full support and his masculine word and to everyone in the party leadership.“
Petar Iliev is adamant that he has never been hesitant about the position he is taking. He claims that after the referendum, the then regime was sent to him by the State Agency for National Security (SANS) and the National Revenue Agency (NRA) for inspection. According to him, nothing was found, but according to him it was harassment of a police state against a free man. Iliev added:
„I am hardened in battles, I have many wounds and scars. This, combined with my character, obviously creates a big problem. I evaluate myself with all my accomplishments and results that I have achieved. I am not a politician and I have not married for power. Great fear shakes the pigsty behind the scenes.“
The Interior Minister nominee clarified that he has been an honorary consul of Barbados for many years. According to him, being an honorary consul is a position, not a civil service. He pointed out that this is the country with the highest standard of living in the Caribbean, which has the closest partners in the face of the United States and the UK. Iliev was adamant that Barbados is not an offshore zone and added:
„Currently, it is not on any list of countries that are a tax haven. In my practice, which is quite solid, I have not seen in the Bulgarian Trade Register a company that has a shareholder or owner of a company registered in Barbados.“
Petar Iliev explained that his commitment to Slavi Trifonov will fulfill it until the moment when it can be useful to him. He explained that for many years their views coincided and were useful to each other.
