A specialized police operation on the territory of the whole country is about to start today, the Ministry of Interior announced.
It was ordered by Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior, Chief Commissioner Petar Todorov. The police forces available to the Ministry of Interior are engaged in it to the maximum extent.
In addition to employees of the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs and the Regional Directorates of the Ministry of Interior, teams from the General Directorates of the National Police and the Gendarmerie, Special Operations and Combatting Terrorism units are also participating.
The main task is to prevent and counter offences against the political rights of citizens and violations of electoral legislation, to counter conventional crime and to identify wanted persons.
At the same time, civil registration checks are being carried out. The operation will continue until the elections are held on November 14, the Interior Ministry said.
