Cornelia Ninova resigns. She said:
“The machine vote scared the voters. There are many subjective reasons. As of yesterday, a group of BSP wants my resignation. Others tell me not to resign. My resignation is demanded by the official cabinet, it is an absolute surprise that Radev’s Initiative Committee wants my resignation.”
According to her, the subjective reasons are many. She noted that her resignation was requested by the official cabinet and the Initiative Committee of Rumen Radev, which was a complete surprise for her.
Ninova noted that she was surprised that Anton Kutev requested her resignation as a spokesman for the caretaker government, and not as part of the BSP plenum, and there was a surprise from the Initiative Committee / IC / of President Radev, who is also asked her not to be party chairman. Ninova called on them not to deal with party building, but for the official cabinet to solve the crises in the country, and for the IC to think about the runoff.
Ninova took full responsibility for the BSP’s election results, after which she resigned. This happened at a press conference at the party headquarters. She stated:
„I was waiting for the final results of the election. I consider this result to be catastrophic, especially with the fact that we lost from third to fourth place. I take full responsibility, it’s all my fault.“
According to Ninova, many things have affected the catastrophic result of the Socialists. She noted that the COVID crisis had affected people and they were scared and did not go to the polls. Subjective reasons are a matter of long conversation in the party.
Ninova announced that the BSP had received an invitation from „We continue the change“ to form a cabinet. She added:
„We have accepted the invitation to negotiate a government with We are continuing the change. We will look for common ground, we will look for unity, we will look for a format of working groups.“
