„The issue of Macedonia, excuse me – the issue of Northern Macedonia /RNM/ is important for all Bulgarians. Because it is part of our national history and most importantly – because over 200 thousand Bulgarian soldiers died for the freedom and unification of this land. Since I am Bulgarian and it is important to me, I will share my opinion.“
This is what Leader of „There is Such a People“ Slavi Trifonov wrote on Facebook. His publication continues as follows:
„I went to Macedonia once.
In Skopje, opposite the Bulgarian embassy, there was a large spray-painted sign. The inscription read: „Bulgarians, die!“
I stood in front of this sign for half an hour. I looked at him and thought – why, people, what have we done to make you feel such hatred?
For purely historical and emotional reasons, shouldn’t it be the other way around? Don’t hundreds of thousands of you have Bulgarian passports? To get a Bulgarian passport, you must prove your Bulgarian roots. So, you who have Bulgarian passports in Macedonia, excuse me – in North Macedonia, want to be dead yourselves. Because you are Bulgarians. On your passport. And at your request.
In your history books it says that the Bulgarians are fascists. So, you are fascists yourselves.
Of course, I can talk a lot about this issue, all with such facts, but now the time is supposedly different.
On January 10, there will be an Advisory Council to the President, the topic is Macedonia, sorry – North Macedonia, because the Macedonians want to become members of the European Union, and Bulgaria is blocking them and we are all pressured to let them go. Despite all the facts I have set out above.
And what should we do now, dear Bulgarians, who are not ashamed to call themselves Bulgarians and carry the concept of „Bulgarian“ with pride and dignity in your soul?
I’ll tell you what I think. Since the Americans want so much Northern Macedonia in the European Union, let the citizens of Bulgaria, like the citizens of most countries in the European Union, not need visas to go to America. That is, we are a full member of the EU and Bulgarian citizens, because they are Europeans, do not need visas to go to America.
And secondly, again, since we are a full member of the European Union, Bulgaria must immediately become a member of the Schengen area. Safe from waiting, waiting and we are supposed to be Europeans, but we are less Europeans than real Europeans. So – no visas for America and Schengen members immediately.
Since the United States and the European Union want us to be loyal partners – well, but loyalty is in two directions. We will be loyal to them, but let them be loyal to us. This is fair. And so it is right.
Under these conditions, and if the Macedonians, sorry – the northern Macedonians, fulfill our conditions signed in the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation between Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia, we can start the negotiation process for the admission of Northern Macedonia to the European Union.
This is what I, Stanislav Todorov Trifonov, a citizen of Bulgaria, think.“
