The deputies decided whether to accept the resignation of Sotir Tsatsarov as chairman of the Commission for Combating Corruption and Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property. 197 of them voted in favor of terminating his term from March 1 this year.

The People’s Party „There is such a people“ made the request to consider and vote on Tsatsarov’s withdrawal as an item on the agenda of the National Assembly of Bulgaria.

We remind you that on January 17, Tsatsarov resigned himself, but indicated a date for leaving – March 1. Ten days later, he gave a briefing, which made it clear that before announcing his intention, he had informed President Rumen Radev and some of the parties represented in parliament.

The chairman of the Commission for Combating Corruption and Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property told reporters that he had said the ultimate goal of the attacks against him during the election of the Prosecutor General, namely:

If the Prosecutor General’s name was Hristo Ivanov or Hristo Boykikin, I have been repeating my words verbatim ever since, the topic of the reform of the prosecutor’s office would have been over a long, long time ago.

I cannot be held responsible for the fact that someone has to cover up his managerial incompetence by claiming that two or three people are to blame even for the price of electricity. Okay, yes, I accept that I am someone’s red line. But his first red line should be the COVID crisis, and the second – energy prices, the third – the rise in prices in general, the fourth and fifth – then it should be me, Geshev or whoever you want, but not – the first, because it hides complete helplessness, Tsatsarov said at the time.
