TPP „Varna“ owned by Ahmed Dogan, is the second largest debtor of “Bulgargaz” after Sofia’s „Toplofikacia“. This was revealed by Minister of Energy Alexander Nikolov in response to a question from MP from „Democratic Bulgaria“ Ivaylo Mirchev. He asked the Minister what is the current state of liabilities of TPP „Varna“ to the state gas company in relation to the improvement of the financial condition of “Bulgargaz” itself.
„We had the intention and desire to reduce the liabilities of TPP „Varna“, but unfortunately this has not been the case so far. I cannot give specific figures, but I can say that it is the second largest debtor after “Toplofika-Sofia“., Nikolov said during a hearing in the Energy Committee.
In December, due to the obligations of TPP „Varna“, gas supplies were suspended and its bills were frozen, according to a number of media reports.
In response to another question from Mirchev, the Minister of Energy said that the repair of “Chaira” HPP is delayed, but the plant is gradually including capacity.
„The normal operation of “Chaira” HPP is extremely important for balancing the energy system in this complex period,“ the minister added.
