A big price shock due to heating awaits consumers from July 1. This is shown by the applications of the district heating companies, which are included in the Commission for Energy and Water Regulation. There is no way the price will rise and the reason is the record increase in the price of natural gas on European markets. This was a fact even before the war in Ukraine.
On July 1, 2021, it was set in the price of heating that the blue fuel will cost BGN 47 per megawatt-hour. And in May this year it is already 162.17 leva per megawatt hour, which means three times the increase.
District heating was also hit by the moratorium. Thus, during the first three months of the year, they accumulated losses. A few days ago, the Sofia district heating company announced that the price should be BGN 242.87, compared to the current BGN 98.48. At the same time, Toplofikacia-Sofia is the most restrained in its demands. She wants the heating to cost BGN 127.12 from July 1. This is an increase of 29.08%.
The leader is the district heating company in Veliko Tarnovo, which has requested from the current BGN 107.47 per megawatt-hour the heating to jump to BGN 464 per megawatt-hour. This is an increase of 332.36%.
The Commission for Energy and Water Regulation is expected to allow an increase in the various district heating between 30 and 50%. At the same time, for the first time in years, the demands of the district heating companies have been publicly announced. Until now, only Bulgargaz complied with this requirement. For example, companies preferred to fill in three hiccups instead of specific numbers. So energy companies also use these. Even today, it is not possible to say what price of electricity they want from July 1. According to MPs, they insist on a 100% increase. But others say it was only for network services.
In addition, there were two mechanisms, one of which provided compensation to those who bought from the day-ahead exchange. Then the price increase will be less. If these costs are transferred to households, the price difference will be greater. Experts expect the final price of electricity for households to increase by only 5-6%.
