There was tension again and another scandal during today’s parliamentary blitz control in the National Assembly /NA/.
„Vazrazhdane“ MP Tsoncho Ganev asked the government if the Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NRA) and the International Associationwere informed about the accident at Kozloduy NPP, where he said there was a fire. Deputy Prime Minister Asen Vassilev replied that this was a matter for the Minister of Energy. However, he explained that the NRA was under him and had not received a report on such a thing. Vassilev pointed out that in such a serious incident he should have been informed.
„I don’t think there’s anything serious that I need to be informed about,“ he added.
The „Vazrazhdane“ MP pointed out that he expected the incident to be covered up and witnessed sharp remarks.
„The necessary documents are available. There was such an incident and it was covered up.„
Victoria Vassileva from „There is Such a People“ (TISP) also intervened during the debate. She turned to her colleagues from “Vazrazhdane”:
„Mr Chairman, you cannot know whether outright nonsense is being said. What Tsoncho Ganev did borders on a crime. You have no idea what you are talking about at all. Get your hands off the nuclear power plant and stop talking such nonsense.„
Dragomir Stoynev, Deputy Chairman of the BSP for Bulgaria parliamentary group, explained the situation from the parliamentary rostrum:
„A little while ago, an attempt was made by Ataka, sorry, I mean “ Vazrazhdane „to spread panic among the Bulgarian people. I contacted Kozloduy NPP and there was smoke in connection with lubrication of thermal insulation. There was no interruption in the work and no such big incident as the one in question.„
Stoynev insisted that this practice be stopped and called on the Speaker of the National Assembly to impose the most severe punishment for instilling panic in society. In his words, the „Vazrazhdane“ MPs used the lie to take political dividends. According to him, these are people who use the rostrum to play with the fear of the citizens.
Leader of „Vazrazhdane“ Kostadin Kostadinov ended the dispute – he assured from the rostrum in the National Assembly that there were documents about the accident at the Kozloduy NPP and this would be clarified next week.
