Bulgaria is preparing measures to reduce fuel prices, it became clear during a joint briefing by Energy Minister Rosen Hristov and Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stoyanov. Negotiations with representatives of the companies „Lukoil Neftochem“ and „Lukoil Bulgaria“ have begun today, which will continue in the coming days within the framework of an expert working group, the aim of which is to optimize the production and logistics processes as much as possible in order to reach the maximum low cost for end users.
„In all conversations with businesses and unions, the rising fuel prices were raised as the main problem before competitiveness,“, Minister Hristov pointed out.
„Reducing fuel prices is a topic we have been working on literally since the first day of the government,“, Minister Stoyanov added.
Inflation in Bulgaria for the first half of the year was 17.2%, which ranks us in one of the first places in the EU according to this indicator. There is no way to overcome this trend with state aid, because it only accelerates inflationary processes. That is why we as a government are changing the approach of action – by looking for how to make the final price better for consumers, it became clear from the words of the two ministers. And while for individuals there is still support from the state with the discount of 25 cents per liter, there is no help for businesses.
Fuels are a major factor in the formation of the final prices of all goods, because logistics is a major component of them. Every household pays their high prices directly and indirectly every day. Therefore, in the shortest terms, all mechanisms will be sought to achieve concrete results in efforts to reduce fuel prices.
