Acting Minister of Energy Rosen Hristov announced that an agreement in principle had been reached for Bulgaria to double the capacity it has in the LNG terminal being built in Alexandroupolis. He made his comment after the meeting with the president, who with representatives of the management of the companies „Copelouzos Group“ and „Gastrade“.

This is part of the Bulgarian strategy for diversification and stable supply of gas from alternative sources, added the minister.

Hristov pointed out that the desire is to increase the possibilities to supply LNG through the Greek terminals. According to him, the last difficulties they had were related to the offer and the impossibility of securing terminals. This has made them think about medium and long-term cooperation. This is how the decision was reached to double Bulgaria’s capacity.

Currently, capacity growth costs nothing to the budget.

During the meeting, the options for increasing the quantities of natural gas for our country, which we will receive through the terminal in Alexandroupolis, were also discussed.
