The Vidin District Prosecutor’s Office charged Mayor of Belogradchik municipality, Eng. Boris Nikolov for committing an official crime under Art. 219, para. 3, art. par. 1 of the Criminal Code.
It is currently established that between 2019 and 2022 in Belogradchik Eng. Nikolov, despite his official duties as Mayor ascribed to him by the Law on Local Self-Government and Local Administration, did not take sufficient care for the management, administration, management or preservation of the property entrusted to him. Evidence was gathered of the conclusion of contracts for the award of public contracts at inflated prices, unjustified invoicing of garbage collection and garbage disposal services in the Municipality of Belogradchik, the initiation of enforcement proceedings against the municipality and the imposition of seizures on municipal property.
As a result of the defendant’s actions, wastage and other significant damage to the Municipality of Belogradchik and the municipal budget ensued.
A precautionary measure „petition“ was taken against Eng. Nikolov. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
