Emil Peychev left today the Municipal Council in Tsarevo, as Iskra.bg first reported. Our reporter managed to talk to him minutes after he announced his decision on the social network Facebook.
Peychev explained that in his opinion two terms in such a position are quite enough. He entered the local parliament in 2016 and therefore now wants to give way to his other associates who are on the list.
„They can be useful enough to the Municipality. I think they have enough good ideas that I will be happy to implement. Each one is worthy to enter the Municipal Council and change Tsarevo Municipality for the better. In this regard, I’d like to extend my hand to them. They also received the necessary support in the local elections,“, Emil Peychev stressed.
Asked what he would highlight in his work in the local parliament of Tsarevo over the past eight years, he replied:
„I fought against injustice. I fought against the vicious schemes and scams of the previous administration. I believe that I managed to expose quite a few of them. It is no coincidence that there are currently quite a few pre-trial proceedings against the former administration of the municipality. I hope it will get to the end. I have always been for justice. I have always stood on the side of society, of the people. That’s exactly what I fought for!“
At this point, Emil Peychev intends to take a little break from politics, but he is adamant that he will remain socially useful wherever he is needed. There is no particular reason for him to make the decision to leave the Municipal Council at this time. He said his family needed him. He has also taken on large-scale projects in his business:
„In this regard, I found that there was no longer any way to combine the Municipal Council, public activities with my personal affairs. And that’s why things are happening like this now.“
Regarding the new management in Tsarevo, Peychev commented:
„So far, the new mayor has shown a great willingness to work. He shows transparency, which is extremely important to me. The last three terms, this transparency was not there. I dare say that he is trying in some way to restore confidence in the institution of ‘municipality’. I will not stand in the way in any way. On the contrary. Where I can help, I will do so. I cannot give an assessment yet because it is only 6 months since he took office. The fact that he has left a ruined municipality with empty bank accounts should not be underestimated!“
