Today, MPs from “We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria” Bogdan Bogdanov and Boyko Rashkov referred to the Prosecutorial College of the Supreme Judicial Council, the acting Prosecutor General and the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office with a request for a full and comprehensive investigation into the allegations of political pressure from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms.
“In recent days, I have heard allegations from members and the leadership of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms that systematic pressure has been exerted on certain people with political motives. The person of Delyan Peevski was also mentioned, who allegedly used these institutions to exert pressure”, Bogdanov said.
Boyko Rashkov added that in his opinion the prosecutor’s office itself should have referred the case and questioned the delay in the indictment, expressing concerns about possible political influence on it.
Rashkov also quoted a letter by Ahmed Dogan, which stated the following:
“Never, since its establishment more than 34 years ago, has the Movement used thuggish approaches to intimidate our families, to take away people’s business with the prosecution and police services.”
