Stop private hydroelectric power plants temporarily – people are miserable without water. This is what former BSP leader Kornelia Ninova urged on Facebook.

She is adamant that no time should be wasted in forming working groups. According to her, it is enough to take out her report from 2022.

The most pressing problem to be solved at the moment is waterlessness in more than 300 settlements, Ninova stressed. Drought is undoubtedly one of the reasons, but far from the only one. There are at least four others, she added:

  1. Fragmented, unclear and uncontrolled ownership of the dams among 4 ministries, regional governors, mayors and private individuals.
  2. The Irrigation Systems cut and sold for scrap by GERB.
  3. Old and depreciated water supply network.
  4. Private hydropower plants of untouchable persons who draw water resources and accumulate wads at the expense of human misery of over 200,000 people. Stop them temporarily.

Ninova, as an MP, has today put written questions to four ministers and the caretaker prime minister to find out how many, who owns and how much water the private hydropower plants are currently drawing. Once she receives answers, she will publish them to make them public.

“I know what will follow. What slop will be poured against me. I know how big and whose interests I will affect MPs, ministers, businessmen and people in the BSP included. It is not my first time. But I choose to stand on the side of people who live in inhuman conditions in 40 degrees heat for months”, Ninova is adamant.

“Do not waste time and energy. Make Minister Petko Nikolov find and provide my report on this issue from the time when I was Minister of Economy and Industry. Back then we made a working group of all interested ministries, agencies, regional governors, the association of municipalities. There, problems were described and solutions were given. I also presented this report to the National Assembly. I sounded the alarm about what was coming. Alas, after the fall of the government, nobody lifted a finger. I will publish my 2022 report. Let’s hope it will be useful and that there will be managers who really want to solve the people’s problem”, the former Socialist leader wrote.

Are they appointing a new director of the State Enterprise „Port Infrastructure“ by the end of the week?
