The project for the construction of a children’s hospital in Burgas has encountered a serious financial problem after the 45 million leva needed for the continuation of the construction works were not included in the draft budget of the state for 2025.
The situation becomes even more critical as the last tranche of 5.5 million leva, voted by the Council of Ministers, has not yet been paid for 2024. According to the MPs, this decision is dictated by the caretaker government’s desire to reduce the budget deficit and meet the requirements for joining the eurozone.
“Attempts to achieve a low budget deficit cannot be at the expense of the health of Bulgarian children”, the MPs from „Revival party” said categorically.
Boris Aladzhov and Alexander Koychev plan to organize a meeting with the MPs from Burgas region, regardless of their political affiliations, to seek support. The goal is to insist that the necessary funds for the children’s hospital be included between the two readings of the budget.
The children’s hospital project in Burgas is of utmost importance for the region, which remains without adequate health infrastructure for children. The delay in construction not only calls into question the health of the children, but also leads to additional costs for completing the project in the future.
