The initiative “Justice for Everyone” organized a protest today under the slogan “Out Peevski from the judiciary!”. The demonstration will gather dozens of citizens in Sofia at 18:00 today in front of the Court Palace.
They will express their dissatisfaction with the almost certain election of Borislav Bobby Sarafov as the new Prosecutor General. If this happens, he will hold the post for the next seven years.
“Borissov broke off negotiations with DB, BSP and ITN to avoid a vote on the Judiciary Act, which would have ended the procedure for his election. Everything we know, and what we have found out in the last month about him, shows that this man should not hold any leadership position in the Prosecutor’s Office and the Investigation, let alone the highest office. He does not meet the requirements for this position and definitely does not have the necessary moral and professional qualities for it”, the Justice for Everyone Initiative said on Facebook.
They are adamant that Borislav Sarafov should not only not be elected as the new Prosecutor General, but should also be investigated for the influence peddling schemes uncovered by BOEC, in which he is clearly involved.
According to the initiative, he is ready to put the prosecutor’s office at the service of a self-confessed oligarch politician who wants to control and entangle the whole country in his net. By “self-forgetful politician-oligarch” the Justice for Everyone Initiative refers to Delyan Peevski.
“Most of the parties in this parliament obviously do not want to stop this vicious election through the National Assembly and are delaying the adoption of the amendments to the Judiciary Act, and GERB are even ready to sacrifice their mandate to serve their leader and along with him Peevski. As a civil society, we must firmly oppose the attempt to take full control of the Judiciary and try to stop this election! On Wednesday, we should be in front of the Judicial Chamber with our intransigence and anger towards what is happening and again clearly state.”
