This week, President Rumen Radev is expected to announce the date for handing over the first mandate for forming a government. The envelope will be handed over to the GERB-UDF coalition, which is in the process of intensive negotiations with other political formations.
Over the past week, GERB-UDF has held a series of meetings with BSP-United Left and „There Is Such a People“/TISP/. The talks were focused on building a stable parliamentary majority. However, the lack of support from „Democratic Bulgaria“ /DB/ limited the possibility of the coalition of GERB-UDF, BSP and TISP to reach the necessary 121 votes.
The National Council of the BSP decided that the party will sign a governance agreement with GERB-UDF. A press release from the MRF revealed that representatives of the party met with the three formations to discuss the creation of a parliamentary majority.
President Rumen Radev delayed handing over the first mandate to give the parties time to conduct negotiations. His decision to announce the date for the mandate handover will set the key tone for the political events of the week.
