Secretary of Bulgarian National Operations Headquarters Assoc. Prof. Dimo Dimov announced on Friday 54 new confirmed coronavirus patients in the country over the last 24 hours. New patients admitted for hospital treatment are 20. According to Assoc. Prof. Dimov, 1,397 people have been tested for the respiratory disease since yesterday with the total number of tested people reaching 54,328 or 7,761 per 1 million of the population. The number of clinically confirmed coronavirus infections in Bulgaria stands at 1,865.
The new cases are from 10 regions. In the capital city of Sofia, there are 28 new cases, in Yambol 9, in Pleven 4, in Pazardzhik and Blagoevgrad 3 in total, in Varna and Sliven two respectively, and single cases are established in the cities of Plovdiv, Silistra, and Stara Zagora.
Five children between the age of 7 and 18 years have contracted the virus. There is 1 case in Pleven, 2 in Sofia, and single cases in Pazardzhik and Blagoevgrad.
Nine new medical workers have contracted the coronavirus. Five of them are practicing doctors, one is a paramedic, and one – a kinesitherapist. Eight of the infections are registered in the capital hospitals and one is from a hospital in Yambol.
The number of fully recovered patients in the country increased by 17 to a total of 401. There are no COVID-19 related death cases over the past 24 hours. A total of 335 patients are treated in hospitals and 43 are placed in intensive care units.
