The Bulgarian Parliament voted in favor of the cabinet changes announced on Thursday following the summit of the ruling political coalition in the country, announced the press-center of Parliament on Friday.
…
In favor were 116 MPs with 89 votes against. Emil Karanikolov, Vladislav Goranov, Nikolina Angelkova, and Mladen Marinov officially resigned as ministers. They will be replaced by Luchezar Borissov, Kiril Ananiev, Mariana Nikolova, and Christo Terziyski.
Kiril Ananiev said there are many urgent challenges the Ministry of Health has to address which leaves him no time for a sigh of relief.
He said he remains confident that prof. Angelov and his team will be able to carry on with important projects in regards to the digital healthcare reform. He also added much work needs to be done by the Ministry of Finance as well.
Party chairman of “National Front for Salvation of Bulgarian” Valeri Stoyanov stressed that the group remains open for a dialog with the protestors, adding there is no need for further changes in the cabinet at this point.
Mr. Stoyanov said the undertaken changes may even be a bit over the top. In regard to the tourist season at the Black Sea coast, he said the sector has indeed suffered greatly from the pandemic but the removal of beach accessory prices at the beaches has attracted many tourists during the holidays.
Chairman of political party “GERB” Daniela Daritkova said the move by President Rumen Radev, who yesterday joined the protests and called from the square “all thugs to leave. Long live Bulgaria”, clearly shows that he is incapable of uniting the nation.
“The calls made by the President at the square shockingly resemble the calls a well-known prosecuted oligarch made on Facebook.”
Mrs. Daritkova stressed that throughout Radev’s presidency he has shown disrespect for the Bulgarian institutions on multiple occasions, not even participating at the emergency state and restriction measures announcements.
MP of political party “BSP” Krasimir Yankov said future elections should not be allowed to be planned by GERB as the public seeks more transparency in the democratic processes.
His colleague Rumen Genchev said it was inevitable for Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov not to resign. He added the protestors want resignations and the complete dissolution of the current government’s mafia-oligarchic model. He also called for the establishment of a state of law.
