„Gabrovo and Bulgaria must be proud of these young boys.“
With this appeal and gratitude to Dr. Miroslav Yordanov, ambulance driver Kliment Velev and the mountain rescuers, the manager of the Home Social Patronage in Burgas Valentina Stankova told in detail the case in which a woman broke her leg near the village of Debel Dyal.
„We are employees of the Home Social Patronage in Burgas and we hold our traditional team building in „Lyulyatsite“ complex near Gabrovo. For each such event, we also plan a walk along a local nature trail. And this time, we didn’t betray our urge to be among the great autumn nature of this region and went along the Debel Dyal nature trail. However, it turned out to have a serious unevenness and some people were unprepared for this extreme route. In the middle of the trail, our psychologist Kalina slipped and screamed in pain,“, Stankova’s story sent to Iskra.bg reads.
It was unbearably difficult for the victim to continue and impossible for her colleagues to carry her to the end. They called 112 and were told to stay on the spot and that an ambulance team and Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) would be sent.
„After 20 minutes, the emergency team called that they were waiting for us at the end of the path, but we were waiting for the MRS teams to help us get Kalina down there. It turned out that they were on a different signal and would be late. While we were waiting and trying to calm the woman’s psyche and pain, after a while the doctor and the driver came to us with a stretcher, who walked the way to us on foot through the forest so that they could help us faster. We were pleasantly surprised and glad that they were able to reach us. With the stretcher and the joint efforts of the doctor, the driver and the colleagues, with great difficulty we managed to get the woman down to the road where the ambulance was,“, Stankova shared.
When they were at the exit of the nature trail, the mountain rescuers arrived and helped in the last final meters. The police officers were next to the ambulance itself.
„We wanted to describe the situation we found ourselves in, to express our gratitude to Dr. Miroslav Yordanov and the ambulance driver Kliment Velev, who, in their desire to help Kalina, entered the forest with the stretcher, walking a distance of 2 km to the place us, they carried the woman on the stretcher another 2 km in the direction of the ambulance in forest conditions and a severe unevenness,“, Stankova explained, adding information about another difficult situation:
„While we were carrying the woman, one of our colleagues became sick and had a cardiac crisis, hence again Dr. Yordanov had to attend to and subsequently stabilized his condition in the ambulance.“
„I am fascinated by the professionalism of the doctor and the ambulance driver. I sincerely hope you will give our special thanks to this great team because I feel ours is not enough. Gabrovo and Bulgaria must be proud of these young guys. My team and I are happy to have met them! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts,“, Stankova commented at the end of her story.
