Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev ordered an urgent inspection in connection with information about the asphalted part of the road in the area of Aksakovo, where recently there was a serious accident with a vehicle of the National Security Service /NSS/. The inspection was assigned to Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Violeta Koritarova.
The purpose of the inspection is to establish the cause of the accident and to hold accountable the persons who took the decision to asphalt this section of the road. Prime Minister Glavchev is demanding written explanations from Minister Koritarova as soon as possible, as well as proposals for punishments for those responsible.
After the accident, it became clear that both drivers involved in the crash had previous offences. Commissioner Maria Boteva of the Traffic Police explained that these misdemeanors were not directly related to traffic safety. For example, the NSS driver had been fined for speeding, but the speeding was minimal and four such cases had been recorded.
Regarding the stop sign, which the NSS driver allegedly did not see, Commissioner Boteva clarified that the initial inspection showed that the sign was placed in the correct location. She also confirmed that all NSS vehicles have the necessary documents and pass technical inspections. The vehicle involved in the crash was also upright and had valid third party insurance.
Prime Minister Glavchev insisted on a quick and effective investigation of the causes of the accident and for responsibility on the part of those who took the decision to asphalt the road. This will help prevent similar incidents in the future and ensure the safety of the country’s roads.
