A fight broke out in the plenary hall during today’s parliamentary session after a declaration by„Vazrazhdane“ (Revival) party. Once again, they called on the coalition „We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria“ to leave the National Assembly, as they have shown how Bulgaria has been conquered by foreign embassies.
After that, Yavor Bozhankov from „We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria“ tried to read a declaration-reply, but the tension rose when he said from the rostrum that „although they were talking about soft wrists. The two of them: Tsoncho and Mr. Kostadinov doubt us the most in this regard.” He also defined „Vazrazhdane“ as a pro-Russian party. As a result, an exchange of sharp remarks began, which grew into a fight.
The MPs threw balls of paper at each other. Some of them gathered around the parliamentary tribune. Speaker of the National Assembly, Rosen Zhelyazov, gave a 10-minute break to calm the tension.
„Such behavior is abnormal and wrong. Yavor Bozhankov was alone, and they were part of a pack. They pounced on him, I went to stop them. Zlatanov came, then the others. It hurts them and it will continue to hurt them for some things,“, Manol Peykov from „Democratic Bulgaria“ quoted as saying by „NOVA“.
In a video shared on Facebook by MP Iskren Mitev, it can be seen that Tsoncho Ganev spits on someone in the plenary hall.
After Bozhankov’s speech, representatives of „Vazrazhdane“ went to the parliamentary rostrum, followed by MPs from „We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria“, where passions rose, starting with retorts and pushing. Manol Peykov was slapped on the cheek, and a MP from „Vazrazhdane“ had his glasses broken.
Manol Peykov publicly apologized to the MP whose glasses he removed.
The MPs decided to consider tomorrow in a second vote the amendments to the Law on the Judiciary submitted by the Council of Ministers, which according to the program was the first item today. The agenda includes a draft decision, with which the Council of Ministers undertakes to prepare a report in connection with the implementation of a decision of the National Assembly from January 12, according to which the Cabinet must amend the National Plan for Recovery and Sustainability in the „energy“ part. The MPs from „Vazrazhdane“ are the promoters of the project.
