The handing over of the first term to Boyko Borissov means that the second one is coming, because he himself is a red line. This is what analyst Iliyan Vassilev wrote in a comment on the social network Facebook. Here’s why:
„With the handing over of the first term to Boyko Borissov, we move on to the second one. He knows well that he himself is a „red line“ for many political forces. The second ones, from WCC-DB, are acting with the same predictability as with the proposal of Atanas Atanassov for Speaker of the National Assembly.
The only real unknown is how well the caretaker government and the National Assembly will manage to ensure conditions for conducting fair and transparent elections. It is necessary to limit vote-buying and controlled voting, as well as to restore citizens’ trust so that they actively participate in the electoral process again.
A key moment will be the composition of the caretaker cabinet. The appointments will reveal whether there is a significant difference between the policies of Rumen Radev and those of Delyan Peevski.
There are grounds for hope, especially considering the developments in Romania, which have their analogues in Bulgaria. However, unlike our northern neighbor, Bulgaria lacks effective work from the services. The main defenders of democracy remain civil activists and non-governmental organizations.“
