Today, „There is Such a People“ (TISP) has been reduced to its hard core – the folk music fans. This was written by analyst Iliyan Vassilev in a comment on the social network Facebook. We publish his opinion without editorial interference:
„Don’t rush to take everything that Trump and his team say about peace in Ukraine at face value.
The very fact that Trump is speaking with Putin (not for the first time) before talking to his nominal allies means that transatlantic relations are heavily destabilized. Even in Canada, due to Trump’s actions, there is a suggestion to invoke Article 4 of the NATO Charter – for mandatory consultations.
Every cloud has a silver lining – the core of Europe – the Weimar format (United Kingdom, France, Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain) plus – have declared that they stand firmly behind Ukraine, regardless of what Trump does. And here we come to the most interesting part of the analysis – what can the U.S. and Europe rely on, and what can Ukraine do?
From internal news – Sometimes in life, you only get one shot. This also applies to „We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria“ (WCC-DB) – it’s high time they get their act together and stop making amateur mistakes. A clear definition of the pro-Peevski forces in Parliament is needed – those who defend him from investigation, including his mother.
This was exactly the mission of Slavi Trifonov – to build popularity through folk music, and then cash it in in politics. Similar to the infamous „cards with skulls“ from the beginning of the transition, he suddenly radicalized his rhetoric against GERB, announcing that he would „scrape them out.“ This had a double effect:
It allowed his party to appear more radical than all the protesters, without actually participating in the protests themselves.
These actions scared the state administration – the main electorate of GERB – that it would be swept away. As a result, the officials clung even tighter to Borissov and Peevski. The same thing happened with the „skull map“ – a tool for fear-mongering and consolidating the electorate of the Bulgarian Communist Party, used by the State Security.
TISP never left this model – constantly relying on radical but hollow rhetoric because it has neither the capacity nor the desire to govern and make reforms. In this way, they managed to neutralize and tame the energy of the protests, while simultaneously discrediting the real protesters.
We must admit that if people no longer trust PPCDB today, it is largely the result of the successful work of the backstage think tanks – through the „There is Such a People“ project. Do you remember the hysteria around „Macedonia“? And today, it is clear that the „Petkov“ cabinet made one of the most correct moves – pulling Bulgaria out of the direct clash with the Republic of North Macedonia and steering them toward negotiations with the European Commission. An exceptional diplomatic move.
But what does TISP do 95% of the time in Parliament? It attacks WCC-DB. And this has an impact – not only on their own chalga electorate, but also on many other people.
Today, TISP has been reduced to its core – the chalga fans. But even now, it continues to trade its political influence. Peevski knows this very well – he needs their votes, he pays and gets them.
