Cryptocurrency trading company NEXO has made headlines in recent days. The Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs entered the company’s offices on Thursday morning. The spokesperson of the chief prosecutor Siika Mileva and the head of the „Cybercrime“ department Svetoslav Vasilev revealed that they are investigating an organized criminal group, money laundering, tax crimes, crimes related to providing banking activities without the necessary license, as well as computer fraud.
The platform is legitimate and started its activity in 2018, when GERB was the ruling party. It makes it possible to credit or provide interest if own crypto-assets are given. The suspicions about the company are that it behaved like a bank without having a license – it granted and gave loans.
“What connection does NEXO have in the political situation in Bulgaria? It’s a good idea to check if there is any funding of „Continuing the Change“ from individuals associated with the company. Our question is to what extent this company had a relationship with Bulgarian politics. The formation of a cabinet is a step towards the exit from the political crisis, but not an exit from the political crisis – as we saw with the previous regular government. Making a cabinet in itself does not solve your problems”, Toma Bykov from GERB said in an interview.

The party is clearly trying to speculate on the situation since the investigation is still in its early stages. At the moment, GERB’s statements can be defined as “The thief calls: catch the thief!”.
NEXO was founded by Antoni Trenchev-son, who is the face of the cryptobank. He is likely to be charged in the coming days for creating yet another multi-billion cryptocurrency scheme. However, Trenchev-father was known as agent „Petrov“ of the Second Main Directorate of the State Security. He was a long-time partner with Boyko Borisov from the company registers.
In 1997, Trenchev became the manager of the company „G&B Travel Companies“ together with Boyko Borisov. The leader of GERB was removed as governor after 10 years in 2007, which shows the partnership of Antoni Trenchev and Boyko Borisov.
In 2007, „Delta Travel“, renamed „Sofia Delta“, became a partner in „G&B Travel Companies“ together with Boyko Borisov. At that time, the future Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Prime Minister of Bulgaria was also involved in the security business. Borisov’s partnership with the general firm and Trenchev also shows his formal relationship with him.
Until now, former Prime Minister Borissov has „deliberately“ focused attention on donations from employees of the crypto company to other political parties, but not to GERB, and nowhere mentions his long-standing association with Trenchev-father.
These behind-the-scenes groups actually run the country during GERB and apparently continue their activities now, but at the expense of the Bulgarian people. Citizens must become aware of Boyko Borisov’s political games, ending his vicious schemes and behind-the-scenes games, turning Bulgaria into a worthy European country.
