Doctors and patients from “Pirogov” protested again after the dismissal of the director of the emergency hospital, Prof. Dr. Asen Baltov. The dissatisfied expressed their support for him and demanded the resignations of the caretaker Minister of Health Dr. Stoycho Katsarov and the manager of the National Health Insurance Fund / NHIF / Prof. Petko Salchev.

During the demonstration, it became clear that the medics from the Clinic of Internal Medicine threatened to leave en masse if the Health Insurance Fund did not clear the name of the medical institution. As Iskra.bg informed you, the accusations are against hundreds of phantom patients, through which the NHIF was drained. Pirogov categorically denies these allegations.
Moreover, the Minister of Health says that one of the phantom patients was himself. He was hospitalized, and Katsarov claims that he was not in Pirogov at the time, nor did he have the disease recorded, and that the signatures under the documents were forged.
The opposite is stated by the former director Prof. Baltov, who threatened to sue the leadership of the ministry to clear his name.
Today at the protest it became clear that the doctors from the internal clinic want to leave the country as a whole. The national consultant in neurosurgery, Prof. Stefan Gabrovski, also described his insult. He said that he was outraged by the remark that „Pirogov“ could now be treated with BGN 1 million. He stressed that neither the Minister of Health nor the National Health Insurance Fund know how many doctors, nurses and orderlies have died in the heavy battle with the coronavirus infection, during which the emergency hospital was on the front line.
