“At this stage, I see no reasons for the bread prices to increase.”
The comment was made by Mariana Kukusheva, Chairwoman of the National Association of the Bulgarian Confectioners and Bakers in an interview. According to Kukusheva, all main branches of the industry have the capacity to provide an uninterrupted supply of food even without a new crop. Therefore, there are no reasons for speculations.
Asked whether selling non-packaged bread carries increased risks of contamination, she explained that shopkeepers should wear protective gloves at all times and should personally pass bread to customers. Customers are encouraged to avoid shops showing low levels of hygiene.
Kukusheva stressed that it is the perfect moment for customers to opt for locally produced food products. Bulgaria produces a full range of basic food products with a wide choice of brands and types.
Iskra.bg reminds that foodstores remain open at this stage. Customers, however, have to keep a safe distance at all instances.
Restaurants are only allowed to deliver food. Same applies for fast-food chains.
