There is exactly one week left until the new school year on September 15. However, are the schools ready and what measures does the Ministry of Education and Science envisage for training in the conditions of a pandemic of COVID-19?
The relevant Minister Krassimir Valchev announced that there will be an official opening of the school year in the schoolyards. However, not all students must be present so that there is no crowding. First and eighth grade will certainly be in the yard, as students who cross the threshold of the school for the first time.
The rest will also be able to attend the first day of school, but it is recommended that they be in a reduced composition. There is also an option for mini celebrations in the classrooms.
A study by the Ministry of Education shows that 80% of parents want their children to start the school year in person. The measures stipulate that children should not wear protective masks during class, but this will be mandatory in the breaks.
For teachers, masks and helmets will be mandatory everywhere, especially if they teach in several different classes.
For those parents who are worried about letting their children go to school, the Ministry of Education and Science will set up mechanisms and they will not be obliged to let their children into the classrooms. Consideration will be given to how to involve them electronically in the learning process.
In addition, the Ministry of Education and Science will purchase 80,000 devices for children who do not have them. The aim is, if necessary, for them to be able to participate remotely in the training. In all likelihood, the devices will be stored in schools.
