The recovery and sustainability plan has been finalized. This was announced to BNR by Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds Atanas Pekanov. He explained that the areas of energy and the rule of law are problematic. Therefore, they will have to be resolved urgently and then the plan will be submitted to the European Commission.
According to Pekanov, there is understanding in Brussels that the document will most likely have to be submitted by a caretaker cabinet. The Deputy Prime Minister sees a positive effect in the fact that the plan will tie the hands of all subsequent governments to carry out certain reforms. As for the last version of the plan, it is the fourth in a row.
Pekanov also said that it was high time to part with our climatic illusions. By signing things that will no longer need to be implemented. The Deputy Prime Minister was adamant that our country is also part of the ongoing processes.
Brussels has already told us very sharply that by 2027 certain capacities will have to be shut down. And big investors have begun to wonder if decarbonization has been done to invest their money.
Pekanov also said that there have been many transformations in the past and people feel unsupported and deceived. So now they think it will happen again.
So far, according to him, the topic of poverty and social inequalities in our country has been neglected. That is why the plan was stopped on one of the social issues. Pekanov also commented that there are fewer jobs in RES than in the coal industry. Therefore, alternatives and opportunities must be found for the industry to develop in the region.
The Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that if emission prices continue to rise, the production of dirty energy will become increasingly inefficient.
As far as the rule of law is concerned, the situation for Pekanov is very difficult. A balance must be sought between the expectations of the institutions in Europe and the realistic reforms that can be made in our country.
