„Democratic Bulgaria“ believes that efforts should be made to form a government within the current Parliament. This was commented by MP Atanas Atanasov. According to him, people do not want to go to the polls and believe that the ego of several people should be turned away in order to make a breakthrough in this situation – public attitudes are such. He believes that this can happen and does not want to go into details about who, what and why.
„A government must be formed in the current Parliament for a number of reasons, including these 22 laws, in order to receive the money from the Plan from the European Union. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that there are no two constitutional judges in the Constitutional Court, a quota must be elected in the SJC, the SJC Inspectorate has expired for I do not know how long. Half of the institutions are blocked because the National Assembly is not working.“
Atanasov revealed that if one of the conditions for forming a government was for Kiril Petkov not to be prime minister, he was inclined to make such a concession. According to him, however, this is an internal party issue of the mandate holder. The biggest political force has the right to nominate a Prime Minister and we should comply with that, the MP added.
The MP defined Nikola Minchev as a very good chairman of the National Assembly /NA/. According to him, he was completely unjustifiably removed from office and this was the overture to the vote of no confidence. Atanasov stressed:
„This government, during these 6 months in which it functioned, did extremely useful things for Bulgaria, but because there was a very good propaganda machine, commanded by GERB, which dealt with just that – to neglect the successes and to focus on the failures. If we compare it with what Borissov did in 12 years, he really needs to hide.“
President Rumen Radev wants to pull the strings behind the scenes, the MP also commented and specified:
„From the very beginning, when this government was formed, I allowed myself to state publicly that it was best for Mr. President to step down from the field of executive power. There is a separation of powers and fixed powers in the Constitution. Then, at the beginning of the government of this government, he acted as a patron and gave instructions. Then the government took action to differentiate and everyone did their job, he did not like it.“
Atanasov also revealed that in the previous elections his party had offered „We continue the change“ to appear together and this was not accepted. According to him, public opinion should be studied, but he is of the opinion that the concentration of power gives results. Talks in this direction are forthcoming. Together with the BSP we have to decide whether this coalition has no life, he added.
In case the President gives the third term to Democratic Bulgaria, everything possible will be done to form a cabinet, Atanasov concluded.
