Footage of snipers near a fence in the yard of GERB leader Boyko Borissov’s house is being spread in the public space, Atanas Atanasov commented during the consultation of “We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” with President Rumen Radev. He revealed that he was flooded with calls from people who were not random and that if there is a high degree of threat to the mandate holder on the eve of forming a cabinet – this is an important problem for the country.
Atanasov reminded that such measures are taken by a committee whose two members are appointed by the President. To this Radev replied that in case of a higher risk, he is informed, adding:
“In case of a threat to an individual, this should not be made public. I will speak to the security services to request information on the case.”
“I don’t have any more information but I have established that the photographs are credible – they were taken last week. There’s no way around raising this issue, it’s extremely important. These things happen in the Balkans, one of the versions of what is happening comes from outside. People in high positions have asked me why we are silent on this. I have been dealing with security all my life, I have no right to miss this issue. We will demand a hearing in the National Assembly of the caretaker prime minister and the interior minister on what were the reasons for raising the level of protection of the chairman of the mandator party”, Atanasov told reporters after the consultation.
