The expectations and responsibilities for the „We continue the change“ of the former caretaker ministers Asen Vassilev and Kiril Petkov are very high. This was commented by the representative of the new political project Yana Balnikova. According to her, the most common question they are asked is:
“Are you sure you know what you’re doing?”
Balnikova replied that what they know is that there is a need for change and that is why everyone is jumping into this project. We remind you that she was Petkov’s Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Economy.
“What we have seen in the last 4 months in the ministry has been just frustrating and discouraging on many levels – wherever we open, whatever we touch, whatever process we study – there is always a problem, a way where there is no control over where the money goes. in this country and in fact this is what made me think about what I can do personally as someone who lives in this country, because I have lived here all my life, unlike many of our colleagues in the project.”
The confidence of the new project comes from the fact that its members have experience. According to Balnikova, they all come from different businesses, see how things happen there, what prevents a business in Bulgaria from growing and developing, and what are the challenges to investing in the country.
“In this, in fact, I can help – in promoting business, investment, there is my strength”, she said, adding that attracting investment is possible mainly by stopping corruption.
„What a stable economy needs is a lack of corruption, a very strong judiciary, and that will really help.“
During the past 4 months Balnikova has worked a lot with small and medium enterprises. What she has seen is that there is still much to be done to encourage their development. She gave an example with the Fund for Promotion of Small and Medium Business, where the budget is BGN 5 million per year.
“Wherever we go in Europe, we should be ashamed of this budget.“
Balnikova is adamant that they are ready to work with anyone who supports their principles, and from then on it was a matter of talks and finding the right direction. With joint efforts, this can be achieved”, she said.
“What I think makes us different is our absolutely pure desire to see a Bulgaria in which my daughter, the children of our friends, of all people, can live a normal life, where pensioners receive decent pensions, where education is accessible to everyone. What we have shown us for 4 months in the Ministry of Economy is that with desire, things can happen very quickly”, she added.
