„This is part of the election campaign. This is one hypothesis. The other is to say – revenge with an Arabic flavor. How exactly is hard to say, but they may coincide in the end.”
In this way, Tihomir Bezlov from the Center for the Study of Democracy commented on the recordings and photos, which are said to belong to Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. He specified:
„One hypothesis is that the recordings may be from Bozhkov from Dubai, and the other – pre-election. But even if they are from Dubai, Mr. Bozhkov said he would enter politics. Maybe that’s the way. “
Bezlov suggests that the Prosecutor’s Office will commit to each subsequent recording, and that future ones, if any, will be analyzed and commented on. According to him, the main question is what the damage to the electorate is.
The expert also commented on the latest operation by the Internal Security and the Prosecutor’s Office, during which high-ranking employees of the Drugs Department were detained. According to him, after the operation there is a serious shock in the department, which is one of the key ones in the CDCOC. He explained that it is important not to change one patronage with another after the action.
„These are very experienced people – those in high positions who participate in these umbrellas and special relationships such as patronage. There are many such cases and unfortunately not only in Bulgaria. I don’t know if you remember the beginning of the topic „Drug markets in Bulgaria“ and there was a map that my institute and I made together. For example, in the map in Sofia – the areas for drug distribution coincided with those of the police stations. Things have changed. This was the situation in 2002 – it had happened that the groups themselves had agreed to redistribute their territories, and if you are a dealer and sell in foreign territory, severe penalties follow. This began to fall apart in 2007-2008. After 2009, these areas no longer exist. This was all over the country, not only in Sofia.“, Bezlov commented.
Bezlov asks many important questions – how did this person get to this position and how did he manage to work for so long without it becoming clear that he had a problem? According to him, there are not enough good mechanisms for control over high-ranking officials.
