Hundreds of free parking cards in the Blue and Green Zone for close friends of GERB. This was written on Facebook by the capital’s municipal councilor Boris Bonev from the group “We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria (Save Sofia)”.
He addressed specific questions to former mayor Yordanka Fandakova, listing several groups of people who benefited from the privileges. Among them are journalists, sociologists, businessmen, sponsors and others. We publish Bonev’s full comments without editorial interference:
“Hundreds of free parking passes in blue and green zones for close friends of GERB.
With colleagues from the PP-DB, today we revealed scandalous data that every year Yordanka Fandakova gave out special cards for free parking, in violation of the municipal ordinance and without a specific registration number of the car and user. Thus, these hundreds of cards were used for parking by all kinds of people.
So we ask the former mayor if cards were given to:
– „independent journalists“ to spread the GERB talking points
– Sociologists and analysts, frequent guests on various shows
– Senior prosecutors and judges
– Big businessmen and sponsors
– Trade union leaders
– GERB owes answers for yet another uncovered scam that pulls back the curtain on a tangled web of dependencies and friends. These are the little gifts that create the parallel reality in which we live.
And yes, this abuse comes at a price – conservative estimates suggest that Sofia’s budget is being harmed by at least 500,000 BGN a year because of these free cards.”
