The Ministry of Education and Health will prepare a protocol with anti-epidemic requirements for the sending of high school graduates this school year. This decision was made today after a meeting between Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and representatives of the 12th grade graduates.
The Prime Minister met with Simona Boneva and Darina Georgieva, after they addressed him with a letter requesting that the graduation of 12th grade students for the 2019-2020 school year be allowed throughout Bulgaria.
“Our wish is to gather in the schoolyard, everyone in the respective school, to gather the graduating class, to have the opportunity to count to 12, and to respectfully send the past years”, the high school graduates noted in their letter to Prime Minister Borissov.
They specifically emphasize that sending should not be confused with holding a prom.
“We all accept the situation maturely, responsibly, conscientiously and understand that the prom will take place when circumstances allow.”
During the conversation in the Council of Ministers, the two twelfth-graders again expressed the desire of their classmates to hold a solemn farewell ceremony in the school yard, which takes place at the end of each school year. They also stated that they are ready and willing to offer their school a different approach to graduation this year, which at the same time to respect the tradition and to comply with anti-epidemic measures.
The Prime Minister ordered the ministers Kiril Ananiev and Krasimir Valchev to prepare the protocol as soon as possible and to send it to the principals of all schools in our country, who send their high school graduates at the end of the current school year. The meeting was also attended by Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov and National Operations Staff Chairman Ventsislav Mutafchiiski.
