“I know the resources, the opportunities, I see the leaders coming out to protest. I know perfectly well what Rumen Petkov, Maya Manolova and everyone who is there can do. Of course, they may have changed, they may have gotten better. I feel sorry for the police, I feel sorry for the innocent people. You see that bombs are being detonated in people, and the goal is exactly that – to bleed the protest, because they know that if I see blood on the street, I leave immediately. They know it and that’s exactly what they provoke. That’s why there were red envelopes of paint. When thrown to create the impression of blood. Certainly, our large projects are also at risk, because when they see outside Bulgaria that the country is destabilized, there will be no trust and investors. Everyone is waiting to see how things will develop further. That’s an additional statement.”

This was commented by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov during the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers on the occasion of the protests in the country, the demands for resignation and the vote of no confidence against the BSP. He said that when the European Council passed, he would speak again.

“Last Friday, when we entered the Euro Waiting Room, there was no counter-protest, but people had gathered to congratulate the government on the work done, after which they left peacefully and quietly. One was related to Bulgaria’s undeniable success in joining the Waiting Room. I have always been on the side of the protesters and I have met with them. I am sad that the division of the nation is so strong at the moment that I do not know how we will overcome it in the coming months. In the morning I had talks with the Headquarters – Bulgaria is the only country in the world that believes that there is no coronavirus and the pandemic is over”, Borisov said.

The Prime Minister recalled his forecast that difficult months are ahead. He called not to blame the people who are at the protests with social demands. According to him, however, the resignation would not improve the situation.

“So far, we have won many fair elections and we respect the Constitution and democracy. There are tools that say how to end a term and make transparent elections.”

The Prime Minister announced that for tomorrow already is organised a Coalition Council of GERB and United Patriots. He called on Hristo Ivanov to say with whom he would rule as GERB does.
