“I found out that yesterday the entire management team of the General Directorate of the National Police was dismissed. This was the team that reformed the central part of the National Police Directorate and uncovered corruption schemes. This service was disbanded. Is it not intended to restore such corrupt activity in the Directorate of the National Police. Due to the lack of reasons for the dismissal – every Bulgarian citizen can allow this.”
This was stated by Boyko Rashkov after leaving the Ministry of the Interior. According to him, there is an intention in this action and separately there is pressure on the current minister Ivan Demerdzhiev. According to him, the aim is to return the management model of GERB. He commented:
“There was and continues to be a corruption nest in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, related to a directorate that deals with property. And to largely eliminate that, we took an outsider who was unknown to nobody, didn’t know anybody, so that he could counter it more successfully. It was there, and now it’s been replaced for no reason.”
Rashkov stated that he does not accept the assessment of “chaos and ruin” for the previous leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and pointed out that it achieved serious results in the field of combating the bought vote as well as organized crime.
The former interior minister also noted that he and the head of state, Rumen Radev, are on good terms.
“I hope we will see a personal correction in the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs”, Rashkov is categorical.
