The reason for the political crisis in Bulgaria is that certain people have privatised the prosecution and the services in Bulgaria. This is what Bozhidar Bozhanov from “We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria” wrote in his commentary on the social network Facebook. We publish it without editorial interference:
“With the failure of the National Assembly today to elect a president, it is evident that the political crisis continues. The reason for the political crisis is that some people have privatized the prosecutor’s office and services, and rule through them, and accordingly no one believes that power can be exercised legitimately.
We gave our prescription for getting out of the political crisis with the proposed agreement, which included rapid reforms in these institutions. It was rejected and the country was sent to elections.
Our voters gave us a yellow card for the mistakes we made and assigned us a role of opposition. We need to have a thorough, humble and serious conversation with them about how we move forward.
Including why all the calls for accountability and blame now being placed on the PAP are hollow. The political crisis has been rebooted by the very ones who spent the entire campaign bringing out compromises and are now howling.
And when someone tells you something about Euro-Atlanticism – a core Euro-Atlantic value is the rule of law.”
