Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) announced that it is planning to launch a petition for a national vote of no confidence against the ruling government. Party’s administration will request the Parliament to initiate the procedure on Saturday.
Party’s leader Kornelya Ninova stressed that the petition will be publicly announced and that everybody displeased with the ruling government is welcome to take part:
“The party’s administration and executive board reviewed Vasil Bozhkov’s letter of complaint as well as the response of the government. Four years ago, we stated what we think of Borisov’s ruling – a country within the country. Unfortunately, both are getting increasingly merged together. Governmental institutions are not functioning and decisions are made in secrecy by those who have power. This governmental model is suffocating the civil society”.
BSP is expected to come with a proposal for a monitoring commission to ensure the transparency of all data collected. All parties involved, incl. PM Boyko Borisov, ministers and administrative staff, are expected to come up with a response in the coming days.
Ninova highlighted that for 10 years ruling Borisov has shown that he is willing to sacrifice everybody in his way – ministers, MPs and governmental heads, without leading to any real change in the country.
“Changes are coming, but the model remains the same”.
Main goal of the petition is to extend to all major Bulgarian cities in order to reflect the national outcry for a change in ruling.
