Cabinet “Borissov 3” proposed a national fund of approx. 2 billion leva in a response to the socio-economic impact of COVID-19, announced the ruling coalition between political party “GERB” and the nationalists of “United Patriots” earlier today.

The Government seeks to invest 1.163 billion leva in social measures and 731 million leva in aiding the local economy that continues to operate with partial restrictions still in place.
A total of 67 million leva will be provided to frontline health workers who will receive an additional remuneration of 1,000 leva per month.
122 million leva will be provided to the Ministry Labor of Social Policy for the provision of more personal assistants.
Freelance art projects also will be covered by the fund through the Ministry of Culture, said PM Boyko Borissov.
Minimal unemployment compensation will be increased from 9 to 12 leva per day starting October this year. The compensation period will be extended by 3 months.
Nine million leva will go to Bulgarian SMEs, and a further 355 million will be invested in infrastructure.
Eight million leva will be provided for inbound tourism with the Cabinet willing to pay up to 35 euro per flight ticket of international inbound tourists. The measure is expected to attract about 400 000 tourists by the end of the summer tourist season.
Retirees will receive an additional 50 leva per month over a period of three months amounting to a total of 318 million leva.
Regional administrations will receive a 30% budget increase in order to curb the social impact of COVID-19 on local communities.
Additional funds of 24,6 million leva will be provided for school, kindergarten, and nursery home health care services.
Hospitals will see a budget increase of 17.3 million leva.
