The vote of no confidence against the cabinet “Borissov 3” was rejected on Tuesday with 102 votes from the opposition in the face of political parties BSP and MRF in favor, 124 votes from the ruling coalition headed by political party GERB against, and with 11 MPs abstained, announced the press center of the Bulgarian Parliament.

In order for the vote to pass more than half of the MPs, or 121 representatives, had to vote in favor of the proposal. With the rejection of the vote, a new one can be initiated only after a period of 6 months has passed.
The vote of no confidence against the 44th parliament of Bulgaria was submitted by political party “BSP for Bulgaria” on July 16, arguing the government “has failed in addressing the corruption issues in the country.”
This marks the fifth vote of no confidence initiated by BSP against a cabinet formed by PM Borissov and the second accusing GERB of being unable to handle the nation’s corruption problems. After the official announcement of the vote’s results, BSP MPs left the plenary hall.
The ruling coalition said it is now open for discussion of changes in the Council of Ministers. It admitted the public has rightful reasons to be protesting but stressed the opposition is not in the position to provide a legit alternative.
The vote of no confidence was carried out amidst a protest that started around 09:00 local time and at 11:00 – 30 minutes before the actual vote, the protestors blocked the city traffic at “Tsar Osvoboditel” blvd. in front of the building of the Parliament.
