“Putting police officers armed with long automatic weapons on the streets of Sofia is risky. This illustrates the stupidity and total incompetence of the senior leadership in the Ministry of the Interior, i.e. the department is managed by people who are not for these positions. The deployment of such forces should not be in the pedestrian zone, but around the migrant camps and critical points such as the Women’s Market and the Lion’s Bridge.”
This opinion was expressed by the vice-chairman of VMRO and municipal councilor in the Metropolitan Municipal Council, Carlos Contrera.
He is adamant that the increased patrols and Gendarmerie forces should enter the regular schedules and patrol as planned, not extraordinary. The security of the three camps – „Ovcha Kupel“, „Military Ramp“ and „Hostile“ should be taken over by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and around the centers there should be an arrangement for patrols both on foot and by motorized patrols from the Security Police and the Gendarmerie.
It is necessary for the SDVR to prevent the entire criminal contingent related to human trafficking and channeling. Unfortunately, the police umbrella over such people continues, which encourages them to continue bringing illegal migrants into Bulgarian territory and transporting them to Serbia, the adviser points out.
“I hear that the SDVR pressured, detained and harassed Bulgarian citizens, including minors, because they walked the streets in groups. This should be investigated by Homeland Security! The rights of citizens cannot be restricted because they disagree with the presence of migrants on the streets. I remind the senior leadership of the Ministry of the Interior that their duty and job is to protect Bulgarian citizens, not migrants.”
According to him, the SDVR is trying to cover up the case of the beaten Bulgarians on Vitosha Blvd. Their working version is a domestic incident, a strained relationship, which does not correspond to publicly known facts. Apparently, the investigating agency underestimated the content of the clip, in which the perpetrators indicated the phrase „al-Salaam“ used in the context of the peace/peace of Allah.
“This gives a certain religious meaning to their actions, which I interpret to mean that they consider themselves conquerors. Are the two detained persons from Egypt and Syria illegal migrants, how did they enter and what are they doing in Bulgaria? It turns out that they organized a crowd of about 30 people to beat up Bulgarian citizens, one of the injured has a cut wound.”
According to him, in the best case, it is a matter of gross hooliganism and reminded that such actions by the police can be interpreted as betrayal.
