This is how Nikolay Rashkov from the Union of International Carriers commented one of the ideas of the Ministry of Finance for fresh money into the treasury.
He admitted that there should be money for road repairs, but the question remains whether a detailed audit of the costs around the toll system is being done, as its maintenance is very expensive.
“Whatever increases are introduced, they will not go to the right purpose. It is important to know what the maintenance of the toll system includes as an expense,“, Rashkov said.
He called on the competent institutions to discuss the case together and reach a workable solution for both the industry and the budget. According to him, the carriers will come up with a proposal to introduce a discount for the distance traveled, expecting a dialogue with the institutions. Another idea is related to the fact that transit traffic will be taxed additionally, and this will not directly affect the roads of the toll system.
