The National Operations Headquarters demanded the cancellation of the Shipka celebrations on March 3-rd because of the coronavirus concerns. The Operations Headquarters was created to organize and coordinate the actions of the institutions regarding the public health emergency. This was declared by the World Health Organization due to the spread of Covid-19.
The Headquarters have sent a cancellation request letter to the President, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Mayor of Kazanlak and the Regional Governor of Stara Zagora.
According to the experts, „clustering of large groups of people in one place is a prerequisite for epidemiological risks.“ They report a risk of increasing incidence of type B influenza.
The Headquarters’ staff shares that GP’s report an increasing number of influenza and respiratory illnesses cases in Burgas, Varna, Sofia-region, Stara Zagora, Yambol and Sliven.
As a result, some of them will be registered аs flu epidemic and students will be forced into vacations again.
The situation in the country is complicated by the activation of other infectious diseases too, according to the headquarters.
