Bulgarians can travel freely only to five EU member states. The rest require negative PCR tests or mandatory 14-day quarantine. Free travel is possible to Germany, Belgium, Slovakia, Lithuania and Malta.
However, there are no exceptions for these countries either. On August 7, Germany declared three areas at risk in Bulgaria. These are: Varna, Dobrich and Blagoevgrad. On August 21, the requirement for a negative PCR test for those arriving from the sea capital was dropped, and on September 10 for those from Dobrich. However, the requirement of the residents of Blagoevgrad remains in force.
As for Belgium, citizens from Vratsa, Vidin and Lom are constantly moving from the “green” to the “orange” zone. There is a recommended quarantine for them, as well as a requirement for a negative PCR test. At the same time, however, those arriving from Dobrich, Shumen, Varna and Targovishte can enter Belgium without restrictions.
Turkey is also on the list of open countries. However, the situation in Greece is quite different. There it is obligatory to fill in a form, a QR code is presented when entering the country. There is also a requirement for a negative PCR test result.
Bulgarians can enter Moldova, but depending on transport. Those who use land are not allowed to be in the country because they pass through Romania and Ukraine, and they are placed in the „red“ zone. However, this does not apply to air travel.
From September 1, entry into Hungary is not allowed without a special reason. Italy has extended the 14-day quarantine requirement until October 7.
